Designing Ember with Chef Josh Boutwood was an exploration of how space can mirror philosophy. The restaurant’s interiors draw on fluid, organic geometries to soften the rigor of its open kitchen, where live fire takes center stage. A curved bar anchors the room, encouraging an unbroken dialogue between chef and diner, while the glass-encased mezzanine lounge offers a more contemplative vantage point. Materiality was central to our approach—warm retro accents, tactile finishes, and layered lighting establish a mood that is both intimate and unpretentious. In essence, Ember is a spatial translation of Boutwood’s cooking: elemental, refined, and constantly evolving.
